11.06.2025: Presentation of the study: Passion in craftsmanship - the Austrian spirit of craftsmanship
What does it really mean to be a passionate craftsman or craftswoman? Is it just about enthusiasm for what you do, the joy of designing and creating? Or is there more to it - perseverance, patience, persistence and the strength to overcome setbacks? This study is dedicated to the often romanticized, but rarely considered in depth, question of the true meaning of passion in craftsmanship.

05.03.2024: Kick-off and focus group workshop in the "Passion in the skilled trades" project
The Institute for Applied Research on Skilled Crafts and Trades, in cooperation with the Federal Monuments Office, the Federal Division of Crafts and Trades and 14 federal guilds, hosted the kick-off event for the study project "Passion in the skilled crafts and trades" on March 5, 2024. Craft experts gathered in the historic premises of the Federal Monuments Office in the Ahnensaal in Vienna to research and discuss the role and significance of passion in the crafts and trades sector.
UNESCO - STUDY
The aim is to underline the importance and significance of traditional crafts with their comprehensive dual training up to the master craftsman's examination as a living and intangible cultural asset of Austria and to illustrate their cultural and economic significance in concrete terms.
CONTRIBUTIONS
Not only as a sustainable response to the mass production of global markets and exuberant consumption, but also with regard to a meaningful and promising range of training and careers for future generations, it is necessary to present traditional skilled crafts in their entirety and attractiveness in a contemporary manner.
THE METAL TALK 2023
Not "only" as a service provider and manufacturer of high-quality products, the craft trade profession is indispensable for a functioning society. The skilled crafts and trades can do much more! As an employer, it creates career prospects for future generations, especially in small and medium-sized enterprises. In addition, the profession serves as a source of identity.
