TIME4CLAY&LIME at the Tyrolean Painters' Day 2026 on February 6, 2026, in Hall in Tirol
Lime and clay coatings as a future topic for the painting trade On February 6, 2026, the TIME4CLAY&LIME project – lime and clay coatings in modern residential and commercial construction – was presented to a broad professional audience for the first time at the Tyrolean Painters' Day 2026, with approximately 50 participants.

The IAGF presentation focused on the question of how traditional craftsmanship knowledge about lime and clay can be combined with modern requirements for sustainability, health, and the labor market. Lime and clay coatings are considered low in CO₂, regionally available, and effective in regulating indoor climate—but in today's painting trade, they are often only used to a limited extent (for details, see the PDF of the presentation available for download).
From project idea to qualification
TIME4CLAY&LIME is an Erasmus+ cooperation partnership (KA220-VET) running from 2025 to 2028. The aim of the project is to develop new, manufacturer-independent continuing education programs for the painting trade—including a model continuing education qualification at EQR/NQR level 5, supplemented by micro-credentials and blended learning formats.

Status quo survey: businesses and educational institutions asked
The first step is to conduct a status quo survey on lime and clay coatings in the participating project countries Austria, Germany, Hungary, and Lithuania. At the Tyrolean Painters' Day, participants were asked to take part in the online survey. Painting companies were able to access the questionnaire directly on site via a QR code.
The results are directly incorporated into the development of qualification standards, learning content, and exam formats, thus forming the technical basis of the project.

Call also published in the trade journal Farbenkreis
In order to reach as many companies and educational institutions as possible, the call to participate in the survey will also be distributed in cooperation with the trade journal Farbenkreis. The March 2026 issue will feature a separate article with a QR code and link to the online survey, aimed at both painting companies and educational institutions.
TIME4CLAY&LIME invites painters to get involved and help shape the future of sustainable coating techniques—in an innovative, responsible, and technically sound way.
